Dr. Sean Wolfort has practiced in Tennessee since 1999. He moved from Nashville in 2005 where he was an Assistant Professor in both the departments of Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery. He is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, at East Tennessee State University.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, he graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in physics and philosophy. He spent five years in postgraduate study and research at Harvard University in Biophysics. He obtained his MD from the University of Virginia in 1990. He completed his General Surgery training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. There he became interested in peripheral nerve problems under the tutelage of Dr. Dellon. He completed his training back at Harvard as a Fellow in Hand and Microvascular Surgery with Joseph Upton, MD. He has been an Instructor in Surgery at both Harvard Medical School and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the Tennessee Medical Association, the American Society for Peripheral Nerve, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Performing Arts Medicine Association, and the Wilderness.
